Galactic Knocks New Album Into The Deep

Galactic From the opening of the first track, a party is going on. Horns blowing over a celebratory melody welcome a champion into the foray. Perhaps you didn’t know. Galactic is here!

The seminal New Orleans band Galactic blows our doors off with Into the Deep, a monumental release due out July 17th which features the collaborations of some of music’s most celebrated names including Macy Gray, JJ Grey, Mavis Staples and more.

Sugar Doosie opens the album with a rousing parade of music, leading me to believe I’ve stepped into a street festival in downtown New Orleans. Higher and Higher keeps the energy going with a funk-groove beat with the soulful vocals of JJ Grey. Macy Gray appears on the following track Into The Deep, slowing the tempo down enough to recall a classic Motown feel for a slow dance in town square. It’s one of the best songs on an album full of all-star tracks. That’s just the first 3 songs, and I’m already on board for this album.

I was hooked from beginning to end, hitting repeat on the player when the album ended, which is a very rare act from me. Domino featuring Ryan Montbleau and Right On with Ms Charm Taylor are also stand out tracks.

Prediction: Into the Deep will be a nominee for the Golden Fork Awards 2015 for best album if not more. The sound covers more than a standard rock or indie pop sound, mixing in jazz, blues, hip-hop and cross-over styles that will hook you from beginning to end.

Pick up Into the Deep from Galactic on July 17th. Pre-order it HERE.
