Flavors Of Punk Playlist

Screen Shot 2015-08-21 at 10.24.54 AM One of the first things you should know about me (D Grant) and why this show was created has everything to do with Punk Rock.
I spent my adolescence steeped in punk, with several of my buddies in school feeding me these killer mixtapes and compilation CDs from underground bands from all over the place. It was really great music, and it was stuff that the mainstream rock and alt-rock radio stations (which was all we had in terms of music media other than MTV back in the day) weren’t touching it. Punk was underground, off the beaten path, and a bit elitist. Then came the mainstream pop punk movement that birthed the careers of Blink 182, Lit, New Found Glory and others.
This week’s show is about the varieties of punk as much as it is a showcasing of some truly great bands in the genre, some are known by the most ardent of punk fans (The Get Up Kids, No Motiv, Home Grown, etc), and others are fairly well-known (Green Day, Further Seems Forever, NOFX, etc), though the songs featured here are not (B-sides and album cuts at their best).
The Appetizer has been a rebel of radio shows since 2003, and will continue to serve you great music that the mainstream doesn’t have a palette for, or that other indie outlets don’t either. It’s why you choose to listen each week.
And since you’ve chosen to listen, I ask that you choose to join in our community a step further. Contribute to our Indiegogo campaign which started this week to launch our Appetizer Radio App, so you can take great music with you anywhere via your mobile device.
