New Romances Playlist & Streaming Player

musicw.mission New Romances sounds like something for Valentine’s Day, but we’re a few weeks away from that. What about exploring a musical philosophy with me? Our relationship with new music is similar to our relationship with new people, best articulated when looking at a romance. The first listen to a new artist or album is like that first date. If there’s something intriguing in that initial experience, we’re more likely to return for a second listen (an audio date if you will). The more listening experiences we have, the more we find that this artist of album connections with our mind, heart and life experiences. This is how we become fans of musicians, building into a following that leads us to start searching out more of their songbook, even buying their music without listening first.

This week I explore this idea that we have romances with music that leads us to decide to follow a band or artist as a fan, then potentially as a die-hard super fan. New music this week from a few names you’ll recognize and some you won’t. Either way, start some new romances with this music and see how it impacts you.
