You may be wondering why we’re showcasing the winners of an award from 2015 in April of the following year.
The reason for this is because we wanted to give everyone enough time to vote. Also, we wanted to wait until after the hooplah of the Grammy’s ended. As you know, I’m not a big fan of the Grammy’s, for several reasons including the pop politics involved. I have a few friends who have been nominated in the past for the award and after hearing their tales of what actually goes into it, it’s hardly an award that fans have any role in. It’s also hardly something that is awarded based on the merit of the artists, their true talent, or the quality of the songwriting.
Suffice to say that since 2007 we’ve been awarding indie, unsigned, and DIY musicians with a true praise-worthy piece of credit for the fantastic music they give to us each year. Bellow are the details of who won, as well as who the Runners-Up were. It is important for us to note that all of our nominees were deserving of this honor. These are not only artists and albums who were regularly featured on our program last year, but also some of the best music that was released. Period!
Thank you to everyone who voted. If you missed the window to vote (it was open for a long time), you’ll have to wait until the next nomination later in the year. Congrats to all the winners and the nominees. If you think we missed an artist or album that deserved to be featured, let us know.
Listen to 2 cuts from each award winning album in this week’s show as well as a taste of 5 great albums released this year including Lily & Madeleine, The Saint Johns, All Them Witches, Simo and more.
