The Rocketboys

This & That Playlist & Streaming Player

tumblr_m6y0tuoWxU1qa0q13o1_1280 Is there a real central theme to this week’s show? Sure there is. It’s in the title (Little of This and a Little of That). Truthfully, it’s been quite a few weeks since I’ve taken the lid off of the variety box and had fun meshing some very different genres around in a way that is both unusual and intriguing. That was the main idea.
Key in on a few brand new acts in the mix this time including JD Simo, an outstanding guitarist who is bringing back a classic rock sound reminiscent of the 60s and 70s (end of hour 1). My good friend Brandon Kinder of The Rocketboys is continuing on his side project The Wealthy West with 2 cuts from an album out this week. Vandeveer is a music project from an outstanding Americana artist out of the north that you will certainly love, and all this is the tip of the (first hour) iceberg.
If alternative rock is your thing, I have some magnificent servings for you in the 2nd hour. Do enjoy this mix and let me know what you think of this week’s episode. Cheers!

Christmas Special: A Holiday Duel Playlist

2015AppetizerChristmas Special Happy holidays!
When the holiday season comes around (usually right after Thanksgiving these days), people kick into gear on listening to Christmas songs. Did you know that most of the holiday music that both mainstream and indie artists play comes often from the same pool of historical favorites?
This year we wanted to do something a little different. Since most holiday songs are often different artist versions of the same pool of music, what if we paired those iterations with each other, so that we can look closer at the specific spices and intriguing additions each artist makes to the song. Throw in a little history of how our favorite classic and contemporary holiday songs came about and you have the first in our holiday specials for 2015: A Holiday Duel (including a Silent Night cage match at the end of hour 2). You pick your favorite versions of these songs and let us know in the comments below.
