In the music realm his moniker is Citizen Cope, but when I conversed with him over the phone, he was Clarence Greenwood. It’s not that he has different persona or personalities. I actually understand the separate name thing better now than I used to. On The Appetizer, my address is D Grant. But everyone I speak with, know in some way, or is a close friend knows me as Dave. It can be confusing for people sometimes, but it’s just the nature of the business.
Back to Clarence. I was blessed to get to speak with him while he tours all over the country. We’ve played a wide variety of his music over the years, and have done a considerable amount of his new material from the Rainwater LP. His fan base is growing exponentially as is his popularity. All this made it even cooler to get to talk with him.
Our conversation didn’t center entirely around music. That would be too predictable, and possibly boring for a guy inundated with music. We talked about some of our favorite foods, I learned what he eats on the road, and what he hopes to accomplish through his musical career. A great conversation to say the least.
You can hear our conversation this weekend on The Appetizer.
