Smothered in Sauce and Covered in Awesome

Well, something to that effect is what I’ll be serving this weekend as The Appetizer presents the first hour of its annual awesome cover series. I’m changing up what we’re calling the series this time, simply because too much repetition is a bad thing (which is why you listen to The Appetizer and not the same old stuff on all the other stations).
What entices me about covers is how inventive and creative people can take a well-written song and reinterpret it in a new way. It’s like when I take my grandmother’s recipe for green-bean casserole and I add my own style to it so it tastes similar, but it has a whole new appeal to it.
That’s the aim I’m shooting for with the covers we’ll feature. I don’t want to give too much away, but I will tell you that you’ll hear remade versions of music originally by Shakira, Jackson 5, U2, James Taylor, the Black-Eyed Peas and much more.
