It’s been several months of waiting and we’re finally able to present the winners of the 2011 Golden Fork Awards.
I want to thank everyone who voted all over the world (hello Venezuela, New Zealand, Canada, Italy, Brazil, England & UK, Sweden, Norway, Pakistan, Netherlands, Costa Rica, and Germany). You might or might not have any knowledge of our radio program, or the Golden Fork. But everyone who participated in the voting are fans of music, especially indie music and certain artists. Your support and fan-dom of these artists is one thing that I want to continue diving into, and hearing from you. I know why I love the artists that we feature on the show. Why do you?
You’ve been patient with us for these past months and I really appreciate that. We had a great response to the ballots, and that’s something that always excites me as well.
If the artists you voted for didn’t win the award, don’t lose heart. As long as they continue to make music, there’s always a chance to pick up the coveted Golden Fork Award. Each artist nominated is certainly deserving of one. And in the interests of the nomination process, if there’s an artist you would like to be nominated this year, let me know. You can comment here or contact with us through our website.
Unlike the Grammys, you the fan have the power. You are apart of the award, and you determine who wins and who loses. It’s the most democratic way to decide who takes the cake (or in the case the fork). And the winners are-
Best Album or EP from 2011: Trevor Hall–Everything Everytime Everywhere
Best New Artist (introduced on our radio program in 2011): The Civil War
