Your Call

So the past 2 weeks have been presentations of our picks for the #Bestof2012. It’s crazy how much great music has been released this year. You’d think it was the end of the world (there’s a pun there…..and it was intended).

Here’s the deal, there’s a ton (literally a TON) of music that’s come into The Appetizer in the past several months. So much so that I haven’t played all of it on the show. By that I mean that there are bands that have submitted music that I haven’t been able to get to. Usually by this time of year I’m rehashing a lot of music from the previous year or doing shows with a similar song theme. I haven’t been able to do that because of the volume of material that’s being produced, as well as the fact that so many indie and emerging acts are popping out stellar tracks all the time. It’s a fun, exciting, and also overwhelming time to be in.

Here’s where you come in. I’ve been hashtagging #Bestof2012 all over Facebook and Twitter. Several people have commented on their favorite tracks from the past 2 weeks. I want you comment on #Bestof2012 on everything you’ve heard, whether it was here on this show or somewhere else. If it was somewhere else, let me know where that is. I want to get plugged in there too. With the volume of great music out there, it’s going to be really tough to put together nominations for our Golden Fork Award at the end of the year. And I want your help in making those decisions.

Our Golden Fork Trophy, presented to winners each year. You pick the winner. That’s Democracy in action.
It is an election year and so the whole “Who are you going to vote for?” thing is on a lot of people’s minds. I’ve never used this program, nor will I ever, to endorse or promote a political candidate or party. But in the season of voting, I want your votes on who should be nominees for:

*Artist of the Year
*Best Album 2012
*Best Song 2012

Those are where we’ll start. You can comment below, on Facebook, or on Twitter. If there’s an old episode you want to hear again and it’s not in our Program Archive, let me know. I’ll put it up for you. Thanks and happy hunting!
