Feature Artist: The Civil Wars

We were privileged to get to speak with (interview) and meet The Civil Wars at a local show. Credit for our connection with Joy Williams and John Paul White again goes to our friend Josh McQueen. It was out-of-this-world at the time (and even now) that The Civil Wars would make a concert stop at a small coffeehouse in a somewhat small town (Abilene population: 118,000). Before their international success with debut album Barton Hollow and subsequent world tour with Adele, these two indie songwriters were a match made in music heaven. With gut-wrenching ballads of love lost and two cover songs that changed the way we listened to the originals, we were hooked.

While we mourn the breakup of the band in 2013, we still look back fondly on our time together enjoying their unique songwriting.
