Hip Hop tracks bounce like good subwoofers when they’re done right. Regardless of your preference, be it Dubstep, Dirty South, West Coast, or East Coast (and everything else I’ve left out), there are certain qualities we all look for when being introduced to a new Hip Hop artist. Is the beat tight, can they flow, does the music have a sweetness to it, do the songs engage you in some way, etc? Hell, we need these elements when connecting with any music form or art in any capacity. When I was introduced to new Dubstep artist OnPlanetZu, what intrigued me was actually his video (shown below). It’s a bit humorous in places, namely how the white guy wants to eject the tape to turn off the song but can’t. I like how the music, drums, and raps all come together visually as well as musically through the video. It’s a great intro point for an emerging artist, and it’s cool how OnePlanetZu used this medium to introduce himself.
