Sound Bites: Prelude To Something

BStaples Returning to hip-hop (thankfully), this sound bites takes us to a new release from Barrett Staples titled Prelude to Something. This Seattle native has been writing and performing since 2010, including collaborations with Itai and Kallie Sullivan.

Prelude provides an introduction to new fans and audiences to a strong lyricist and rap composer. With Dynasty, an upbeat perspective claims greatness and inspires new life. Millions examines the quest for numbers at the cost of control, and highlights the talent of production from Itai. The title track Prequel (featuring Kallie Sullivan) provides finesse in an R&B groove while charting a journey back to the root passion of the art. My favorite of the 5 song EP has to be Natural Disaster, where Staples kicks the beat at a higher speed along with his rhyme flows and some of his best lines. Verbal gymnastics are present throughout this dynamic new album.

Pick your favorite song from Prelude To Something.
